Dr. Jon Organrat, head of the State Department of Genetic Futurism, was found guilty of 30 million counts of gross negligence in a ruling by the 1017th circuit court today.
Dr. Jon Organrat, head of the State Department of Genetic Futurism, was found guilty of 30 million counts of gross negligence in a ruling by the 1017th circuit court today. The 55 year old phrenology professor out of Dallas, TX finds himself at the eye of a political storm 10 years in the making.
In 2056 the “children first” initiative won president Malaka’s bid for reelection. Malaka promised to take genetic disease head on, and promised the nation that Organrat was the man to do it.
Thanks to groundbreaking sperm cloning techniques, a small group of pre-screened men who were hand selected via the hit NBC reality TV show “Be My Daddy” in late 2058 were able to father millions of children. The free service enticed many Americans to seek out sperm over the past decade, in order to achieve parenthood despite plummeting fertility rates. Now those parents are learning they received only half-truths.
Organrat, the inventor of the novel sperm cloning process, was not lying about his revolutionary technique. What he (and by extension the rest of the “Children First” program) was lying about was the origin of the sperm. Since 2068 multiple parents have come forward stating that their children are presenting genetic disease that should be impossible due to the sperm being sourced from the “Children First” program, which was guaranteed free of any genetic defect.
Today, after 2 years of testing and courtroom debate, the truth has been released to the public: The samples taken from “Be My Daddy” participants were all immediately discarded after the series’ rave reviewed “Sudden Death Circle Jerk” finale. Only one father supplied the sperm for the some 30 million children conceived through the program in the past ten years: Dr. Jon Organrat.
President Malaka’s office has not yet released a statement, but Dr. Organrat is expected to be relieved of his duties as head of the State Department of Genetic Futurism. Organrat remotely attended the sentencing hearing via the “Golden Bail” program, and has not yet reported to State Department of Wealthy Individuals for punishment.
Samantha James, a single mother of two who conceived her children through the program, is one of the many parents outraged by the news.
"I trusted the government to do what was best for my children, and now I find out that they were experimenting on us," James said. "It's disgusting."
James' former husband, James James doesn't agree with his ex wife's opinion.
"I think Dr. Organrat did nothing wrong," Mr. James said. "He was just trying to help people. My son Dillon is alive and healthy today thanks to him and the Children First program. I understand that some people are upset, but I think they're overreacting," he continued. "The fact is, thanks to Dr. Organrat, we have millions of healthy, happy children who wouldn't be here otherwise. I think we should be thanking him, not condemning him."
Few agree with Mr. James. Long time fans of "Be My Daddy" have been especially outspoken. Samal Singh, "Be My Daddy" contestant and 4 time winner of Vanity Fair's "Most Handsome Man of All Time" competition is outraged.
"I was promised that I would be the father of millions of beautiful children," Singh said. "Now I find out that I'm the father of millions of ugly children. I'm going to sue."
When told that he was never the father of millions of children, Singh couldn't seem to grasp the concept.
"But I'm so good looking," he said. "It doesn't make any sense."
Singh's fans have started an online petition for Organrat's beheading, which as of the publication of this article has 150,000 signatures. The State Department of Beheadings and Capital Punishment has yet to issue a statement on the matter, and offered no remarks when reached for comment. A recent survey has shown that the majority of Americans are in favor of capital punishment for Dr. Jon Organrat.
The Guillotines for Freedom movement has suggested beheading all of the children instead.
"We can't let these abominations live," said GFF leader Josef Smirnoff. "They're an insult to humanity. We need to put them out of their misery."
When asked how he would feel if his own child were to be put to death, Smirnoff was unfazed. "I would be completely okay with it," he said. "In fact, I would be grateful. My child would be better off dead than to live as a genetic freak."
The GFF has already put together a list of over 100,000 children who they believe should be put to death. They are currently working on a petition to send to the president, asking for her approval to carry out their plan.
Not everyone is on board with the GFF's plan, however. Some parents of children who are on the list have started their own petition, asking for the GFF to be stopped.
"We're not going to let them kill our kids without a fight," said one parent, who wished to remain anonymous. "We'll do whatever it takes to protect them."
At this point, it is unclear what the president will do, or if she will even respond to the GFF's petition. One thing is for sure: the issue of what to do with the children of the Children First program is not going away any time soon.
As of this afternoon, Dr. Jon Organrat has released a statement to the public.
"I am truly sorry for the pain and suffering that I have caused," he said. "I only wanted to help people, and I never meant to hurt anyone."
Organrat went on to say that he is currently in hiding, and that he is not sure what the future holds for him. "I know that I am not safe, and that there are people who want to hurt me," he said. "But I also know that there are people who understand what I was trying to do, and who still support me. I just hope that someday, somehow, I can make things right."
The Children of Organrat Foundation is a newly formed organization that is distributing emotional aid to parents and children effected by the events surrounding the revelation. The foundation is also working to raise awareness about the issues facing these families, and to lobby for better support and resources for them.
