10-15 years ago reddit was a bastion of open speech, discussion, and competing view points. Now, reddit is nothing more than a political mouth piece for the rich class. Too many users moderate too many subreddits, are able to ban users across major subreddits, and finally the fact that reddit staff removed videos that exonerated individuals defending themselves during BLM riots, but allowed multiple posts calling for riots and violence across 2020.

My conclusion on this - no idea how valid it is - is that the bigger the group of people, the more likely it’s run by bad actors. To me this explains both the bad behavior of public companies and why giant subreddits are likely a mess.

Interesting! There's definitely something to the idea that the more filters on levels of authority, the more competitive and less "pure" strategies you'll see at the top
